Jo and the team put together a directory of shops, pubs and restaurants who were still operating during the pandemic, promoting support for local businesses. This provided a service for both the community in being able to see which local businesses were still operating and for local businesses to get the word out about changes that had been made in how they were operating, and how they could be supported.

Jo’s been a force of nature in the Portsmouth freelancer community for more than a decade. As someone who’s almost single-handedly organised every single freelance meetup, networking event and party here for 10 years, she used that same enthusiasm when the Covid crisis hit to make a real difference.
Not only continuing with the freelance meetups digitally to keep everyone sane, she also drove the construction of Supportsmouth - a site dedicated to promoting local independent businesses who might otherwise have struggled during those difficult times. She’s an absolute credit to the freelance community here, and we’re very lucky to have her.
